Why Traditional Media is Still Important - Adwise Marketing & Communications

Why Traditional Media Advertising is Still Important?

Advertising, Marketing, Traditional MediaOctober 27, 2014ioulia

Digital and Social Media Marketing are amazing tools, but some customers still respond best to a more traditional, tangible medium. You need to get your brand into your clients’ hands, with attention-grabbing print ads, brochures, flyers and direct mail letters and postcards. Distinctive, attractive signage, posters and product tags and labels to help your brand stand out from the competition and catch the eye of a potential client.

Why traditional media advertising is still important?

Traditional Media Advertising: Television, Radio, Newspapers, Magazines And OOH

According to a recent Nielsen survey, newspaper ads are still the most trusted form of paid traditional media in North America. More than half of respondents say they trust traditional advertising platforms such as newspaper, magazine, TV, radio and billboard. However, all new media platforms mentioned in the survey, including search, online video, social media, mobile display and online banners, received a less than 50% trust rating.

The optimal strategy is where brands/products/businesses create awareness via traditional advertising and then capitalize on the recognition later via social and digital media. It will allow them to start a conversation with more potential customers since they reached a greater number of people through traditional platforms.

  1. Create awareness for your brand/business/product, typically, via traditional media.
  2. Move consumers into the consideration phase of the buying cycle. After you effectively created awareness via traditional media, potential customers naturally move into the consideration phase where they will begin searching for information online – SEO & Digital Marketing.
  3. The last piece of the marketing puzzle – create loyalty! Your happy clients will become brand ambassadors and cheerleaders for your business. And that’s when social media magic begins!
